Trade without money in a circulary economy
If we help small and medium business owners trade on credit without interest, they will ditch antiquated payment rails.
Diving head first into crypto in 2021, I had the difficult and thrilling job of designing the brand and product for a novel web3 protocol company. For over a year I adapted to the various ambitious visions from our multiple founders, designing multiple products, websites, and brands. As a company, we also battled the rapidly changing industry and unprecedented investor speculation.
There were many new inventions at ReSource that required translating deep tech solutions to usable interfaces. One core example was the ability to trade resource dollars in a circular economy without interest. Business owners can spend into the negative and achieve surplus by trading goods and services.
But that's not all, transactions were secured on the celo blockchain and stakers delegated a second token, source, to a credit pool used for underwriting credit lines. Source was also used for rewards in the marketplace, so we had to show non-native crypto users two unique tokens in their wallet and display an mutual credit account method.
ReSource was in the unique position of being both a marketplace for smb's and a protocol for crypto and economics enthusiasts. To create a unified brand we had to meet in the middle: modern but not too edgy, friendly but not silly. During the inital rebrand when I joined, we decided a vibrant purple-pink gradient fit with our parting from traditional finance (green) and web2 (blue). It's trustworthy yet magical.
When I first joined ReSource we were given some very simple drafts to work with. We built countless iterations for each product in Figma with a high focus on on usability and clarity around financial data. Each product came with many of its own challenges – both due to the complexity of web3 and the novelty of our solutions
Below you will find prototypes of both our decentralized marketplace and staking dApp.
Defined in Figma and developed with ChakraUI, our design system was the first thing we built after rebranding. During my time at this company, the design system was a core utility that I relied on to maintain consistency despite having constantly changing scopes and feature sets for each.
I designed and developed at least five major iterations of our landing page. Each time our product changed, or the founders chose to target a new demographic, we needed a new landing page. Even after leaving the company, I was contracted to build yet another landing page to accompany a second rebrand. I developed the first few iterations with React and SCSS, then moved to TailwindCSS and Next.js.
Unfortunately I did not keep recordings of all the finalized landing pages. Below are the landing page iterations as Figma prototypes or launched builds from oldest to newest.
ReSource Network raised $5.8M from notable investors over three rounds in 2021. Over 100 individuals and business joined the marketplace to trade without money, and many more staked source tokens in our dApp to provide collateral for mutual credit lines.
